If the name confuses you, you should know that this anime is also called Gundam 0079 or First Gundam. It is the first Gundam series produced by Sunrise, and the start of the Gundam legend. Mobile Suit Gundam premiered in Japan on April 7, 1979, on Nagoia Broadcasting Network, and it ended on January 26, 1980, after 43 episodes. 31 years later, the Gundam Universe (I hate calling it a franchise) has spawned more than 30 anime TV series, OVA and films, one live-action (G-Saviour) and countless manga…

Although I will not review anime anymore until I find one that is truly amazing and worth my time, I cannot stop looking at the next anime season, and that’s the spring one. Some pretty looking interesting anime in there, and I really really really really hope that at least two or three of them will be great or even more, so that I can start to watching anime again. I’m on dry now. Things that are looking interesting only by looking at the cover and reading the description are …

This is something that I wanted to do for some time. My favorite anime themes. I wont spoil it with any words, just with some quotes from the respective anime. I couldn’t find the original video in Japanese for FMA or Escaflowne, sorry, just the soundtrack with footage. And sorry about the quality of some videos.
I picked only the best songs, If I had a little doubt about one, it was out of this list. No first, second, third… place and so on. I cant decide.

You know, THOSE things. The small, little and numerous things that separate anime from other forms of animation… or popular culture thingies. And THOSE little things, all got a perverted side, sex connotations and specific Japanese phobias, taboos, or beliefs. I don’t think I can talk about all of them, simply because I don’t know all of them. But lets start talking about these little things, as you probably wonder what the heck I’m talking about. I’m in the dark myself about many of these things, so bare with me. …

It took me some time to get back on the Saint Seiya reviews, but later is better than never.
So, welcome the the fifth episode or if you want, The Rose Garden. Or Deadly Roses. Or Poison Rose, how is actually named. I think this one of the best episodes to date. Well, its strange that I consider an episode in which Tenma barely appears to be the best Lost Canvas episode until now. Cant say why, I think is like those Naruto episodes which focus on other…

Lets start with a little… history, lets say. When a new anime season is starting (in this case the fall season), I am watching as many first episodes as I can, hoping that I can find a good anime to watch. Well, it seemed totally useless this fall ,when the whole season it proved to be a load of generic crap or MOE/kiddy stuff. After countless first episodes watched, I looked again on the list and noticed I missed one. And WOW, that scored big. Darker Than Black: Gemini of the Meteor is one of those anime that make…

The Hellsing organization finds in the body of a deceased person a strange chip which they believe someone is using to create vampires. Cheap imitations of vampires, I might say. But the dead person they recovered becomes a vampire even after the chip is extracted from his body. The vampire slaughters everyone around and escapes from the morgue. Victoria still refuses to drink artificial blood, with the stubbornness of a troubled teen girl. But if I think about it, is more likely that she is…

Fade in. Newly orphaned Afro runs from pursuers. Rain pours from the sky, possibly symbolizing the tears the boy can no sheds. He moves awkwardly, slowed by his father’s katana and a large box strapped to his back. The men corner Afro and demand the Number 2 headband he wears as a belt. Showing bravery and bravado, Afro moves to draw his father’s sword but is struck down before he can attack. After taking the headband, one man kicks open the box to discover the decaying skull of Afro’s father. …

As mentioned in the Hellsing review, Animerated is conducting a series of anime reviews. Today, I review the first episode of the Afro Samurai OAV. First, a little background. Afro Samurai is based on the manga series by Takashi Okazai, which first appeared in Nou Nou Hau magazine in September 1999. Studio Gonzo produced the five-episode OAV under the direction of Fuminori Kizaki, who previously helmed the Blue Gender series and movie. The anime made its US television debut on January 4th…

For this second episode I will try to not make major spoilers anymore, in the detriment of an objective review (or that’s an oxymoron, as review can never be objective).
Pretty cool shits happen in this episode, and the accent falls on Kitty (Seras Victoria) and her new life as a vampire. Well, at least I can say that compared with Alucard, she is very different vampire. She doesn’t appear to suffer too much from her transformation into a nocturnal predator, or at least in this…
