Berserk volume 7

This is where the climax of the current story arch begins. Are you ready for the most amazing battle scenes ever to exist in manga? Volume six was a quiet read, but this one is a total and awesome mayhem. And to add even more to the winning formula, volume 8 is pretty much the same. This is Berserk at maximum. I must make some spoilers for this volume, I just cant help myself not to. I will just skip to the content for now, as I am eager to reach a certain point in the story. Guts and Caska…

Berserk volume 6

It is pretty important to say that volume six is a game changer. Everything changes. The story gets complicated as it starts to evolve around the royal court, there is more intrigue now, lots of new characters appear, and finally things start to evolve between Guts and Caska. Great stuff!
Also, there is not much fighting in the first seven chapters of this book, if you do not count two murders and one attempt of murder. But do not think a Berserk volume is boring because there are less battles in …

Blade of The Immortal volume 1

The reviews for Blade of the Immortal are part of a bigger plan to bring more manga reviews on Animerated. So, if you have a manga that you want to review and you don’t have a blog for it, just send me an email. As some know, I’m desperate for some collaborators, as I want to extend and make this site better.
Let me say I always find it kind of difficult to review the first volume of a manga series. Usually I get familiar with a manga on the second …

USA manga publishers: Dark Horse

This article is based on various interviews, columns and materials from darkhorse.com and around the internet. It was a small pain to gather the information but it was worth it and I hope the next article will be even better.

Considered the oldest independent manga publisher from USA, Dark Horse was founded in 1986 by Mike Richardson and the manga division started to function in 1988. The first manga they ever published was Godzilla by Kazuhisa Iwata. When Godzilla appeared…

Manhwa – the Korean manga. A short look.

Do you know what manwha is? Is the the Korean version of manga and it cannot be ignored anymore, even though you may never heard of it. Do not think that Korean artists are Chinese artists who copy everything they see in manga, although they are inspired by it. The Koreans (south-Koreans actually) have some tremendous artists who are delivering some great titles. Shaman Warrior, Banya: The Explosive Delivery Man, Chunchu, Ragnarok and King of Hell are just some of the titles that…

Berserk volume 5

First, I want to say that reviewing Berserk is a tremendous pleasure. I don’t have the same feeling of joy and anticipation when reviewing other manga or anime. Its a joy born from the discovery of hidden things and meanings that Berserk is full of. From the exploration of the beautiful artwork. Every time when I read one volume something new hits me and I am wondering how did i missed that in the first place. It can be a detail of the art, a line with two meanings, the …

Berserk volume 4

This volume starts with the Golden Age chapter 2 and goes deep in the story, finishing with The Golden Age chapter 6. This is a very important volume for the story, as many important things happen, destines are shaped, Guts meets Grifith and he finally finds a place to call home. If you were not already hooked on the story, this volume will do the job for you. Also, expect longer reviews from now on. Not only that the story gets way better but also a multitude of fascinating…

A Drifting Life

It is very hard to try and review an autobiographical manga. I cannot say at a point that the story went wrong and some character was better to be portrayed differently and so on. No one can review a life. I can review the art, but not this story. Yoshihiro Tatsumi was born in Osaka, Japan, in the year 1935 and he is one of the most influential manga artists alive and a model for generations of artists and cartoonists around the world. He is widely known as the grandfather of the Japanese alternative comics…

Berserk volume 3

This book ends the Guardians of Desire story arch and begins the greatest Berserk story arch, The Golden Age. Volume 3 starts in the middle of the fight between Guts and the Count, who transformed himself in a terrible Apostle (read monster). The little flying elf, Puck, is there too. It is amazing what distorted and amazing monster come from the imagination of Kentaro Miura. His art is really at the top when hideous monsters make their way into the story. And take notice, Miura wasn’t even close at his best in the…
