Cosplay! What’s all about?

I cant say I am very interested in cosplay. I mean, what can you say about someone that dresses in an anime or manga character? Err… nice. Right? Or… whatever, bad plastic. Or, if its a girl, WOW! SEXY! I don’t know, I always thought that cosplay must be taken to the next level. LARP-cosplay. Dress like your favorite character and then go kill/rape/beat/talk to death/annoy others (or pretend you do) in the neck of the woods or municipal sewers. Never mind that. Actually, its about the person that cosplays …

Fred Patten was an anime fan before most of this generation of fans were born, back when color television was a novelty and the idea of playing back TV shows on tapes and discs was a science fiction fantasy. Actually, Patten was a big part of the science fiction and fantasy world before he was drawn into anime fandom in the mid-1970’s.
When I decided to buy this book I was looking for something about anime & manga, but nothing in the complicated path that many books…

Comics versus Manga: the Super-Hero strikes back

First, I want to say that I read both comics and manga. More comics and less manga, actually. Why? Because you can find more quality comics than quality manga. While currently I am reading just two manga series (Berserk and Naruto) because is hard for me to find a manga that I can enjoy, although I will soon start to read Blade of the Immortal and Old Boy. I want to say that I do not read scans but only printed stuff that I buy on the internet (supporting the …

What can you tell about a person by looking at his/hers wish list from ThingsFromAnotherWorld (tfaw.com)? Here is mine, and it contains more comics than manga. But this is simply because I have no idea what manga to buy, really. My experience with manga is limited. I’ve only read Berserk, Naruto, Vampire Hunter D, Basara, Warcraft and some single volumes from other manga, but only the first 3 titles are on my regular reading list. So if you have some titles suggestion for a 32 yo old that likes Berserk, …

Or “Hello people. I am back.” After 3 wonderful weeks, I am back to work and cold. Unbelievable what a strong impression and a shock Brazil can produce. I’m I back yet? I have no idea. In my mind I am still there. I want to live there, for sure. I will be back as soon as I can with an article full with pictures and impressions. Tomorrow I will begin the articles again, with some news. Now I will update Wordpress and play some Dragon Age. Till tomorrow, goodbye.

It is kind of weird that in the present an art form known for its violence doesn’t inspire too much manhood. I mean, I can still remember a period when manhood was very good represented in anime. All those great anime like Fist of The North Star, Berserk, Dragon Ball, Lupin, Bastard, only to mention some, they were full of brag, violence and manhood. Yes, the 90’s spawned a bunch of crap too, mostly hentai, but hentai has manhood too haha. While  at present, although I cannot whine about the …

Proof of an Otaku existence

I have read this article based on a poll conducted in Japan, which reveals the top yen fashion choices of an Otaku. They forgot to mention that in this case its about an Anime Otaku. Cause there are a bunch of Otaku types. This list refers to the Japanese Anime Otaku type, just remember that. But again, this list is a bunch of crap. Well, what I see are things that are pretty common in any fan or every average person you see on the street, not only anime…

Arthemia free for Wordpress: The Theme of Animerated

If you wonder what is the Wordpress theme that I have on this blog, it is called Arthemia Free. When Dreamhost took down my site for no reason at all I decided to start from scratch. New theme, new host. And although I loved my old WP theme (its called Atahualpa and its the most complex WP theme ever made – has hundreds of options and you don’t have to go in the code to change anything) I decided to choose Arthemia free this time. At first, I didn’t like it too much. The excerpts, the…

One of the reasons I am writing this article is that there may be some bloggers and site owners out there that may find it useful and interesting. Plus, I discovered that I like writing about software.
First, I will say some words about the program that changed my blogging habits, and it sure made blogging more pleasant and fast in the same time. It is…. the Windows Live Writer, ladies and gentlemen. Since this little blue program appeared, I am enjoying writing a lot. The cool thing to it is …

Anime is an English term for the word “animation”, originating from the Japanese manga – the Japanese word for all comic books. In Japan, the word “anime” originally described all animation (not only the Japanese one), but the English terms refers only to the animation that is produced in Japan.
