Comics for PSP
![]()
Well, I totally missed this one, but as comics books started to conquer domain after domain, from movies to digital downloads, I cannot help myself to report this bit of news.
With the Digital Comics service, Sony introduced to PSP something that I am sure it was missing from their portable gaming console. Comic-books. And although I still ponder how you can you have a good reading experience jumping from panel to panel, that is just a runt. Sony developed a program that has a function named Auto Flow. That allows the pages to slide and zoom from panel to panel in the natural reading order. The reader for the PSP Digital Comics was included the a PSP firmware update 6.20, so if you don’t have it, just update your PSP software.
About 600 different comics issues and graphic-novels are available for downloading on your PSP, from a diversity of publishers such as Marvel Comics, IDW, Image Comics, Titan, 2000AD and Disney. No Dc Comics? Ouch. Where is my Batman and JLA, Sony? Wait, I don’t have a PSP.
I took a look on the catalogue, and I have seen some great titles there. Daredevil, The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Judge Dredd and Star Trek. Each issue will occupy around 40MB of space, and you can also preview some of the titles offered and some free books as well. Prices range are $.99, $1.99, and $2.99.
If you have a PSP, and you would like to read some comic-books while in the train, metro or… don’t know, coffee shop, just go to http://us.playstationcomics.com and see what Sony has to offer.
Is a good thing that comic-books are able to break the traditional printed limits, thus reaching an audience that maybe is not much into paper comics collecting, and more in casual reading. But I think many traditional comic-books fans will enjoy as well what the digital medium has to offer. Others will continue to enjoy the plain old good paper, with ink and good smell.
