Future Marvel movies

The Avengers. The most expected Marvel movie ever I think (at least for me, where is that JLA, Warner?). This movie even has a release date, on 4 May 2012 (a bunch of years, ill grow old). This movie will be released after Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America, so all the heroes can be properly introduced with in their own movies (what nice chaps, the Marvel dudes) and then brought together in The Avengers (oh, the glory! I wonder who is going to be the alpha male in The Avengers, Thor or Hulk? ). We have already seen Hulk and Iron Man, we expect Captain America and Thor. Nick Fury will be appear in The Avengers as well, but no movie for him (grow an eye!).
The director for this movie is supposed to be Jon Favreau (Iron Man), and it appears the movie is already in pre-production, with Zak Penn writing the screenplay. As cast we will have Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark, Scarlet Johansson as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff, Don Cheadle as War Machine/James Rhodes (not sure yet), Chris Hemsworth as Thor (also in the Thor movie) and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (Sam is a badass!). It is not known yet if Edward Norton will play the Hulk, as its possible the the green giant wont even revert to human form in this movie (NO! bring Norton back, his Hulk was a brilliant geeky one!). So I guess Hulk will be played by… a voice + computer generated graphics? Short on the budget are we? Disney, hello? Open those deep pockets you cheap suits! Oh, one more thing. The movie will be more like an Ultimate Avengers than a classical Avengers team. No problems here, as long as we don’t see some weird costumes. But, where is Vision? :(

The First Avenger: Captain America. Another major movie, and the second on my must-see list. It is scheduled to released on 6th May 2011. As director, Joe Johnson (Hildalgo, Jurassic Park III) is already confirmed. Now from pure laziness, I will copy paste something from a previous article that I wrote. Here we go.
‘’The movie is going to be set in the Second World War, in a multitude of locations (I guess mostly Europe and USA). The movie will show how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America. This means were going to be able to see what happened during the Super Soldier program that transformed Rogers in a … well, super soldier. Some of the villains were revealed too. Red Skull and Hydra. And I can quote something very interesting from an interview with Kevin Feige (executive at Marvel Studios). He said “as you know if you read the comic books, the origin of Captain America is really the origin of the Marvel universe … it’s about that time in history when the idea of the superhero began to emerge”.
Now… I do not think that all the movie will take place during the Second World War, so somehow they must put Cap to sleep under the ice until someone finds him, because The Avengers needs their captain for the 2012 movie. A speculation says that bringing the character in the modern day will be an after plot that will take place during The Avengers Movie, so at the end of his movie Cap will take a cold nap. Neal McDonough said that he might be interested in playing the role. I’ve seen this guy in a bunch of movies and series, it seems he cannot get enough of acting. He looks like a serial killer thou. Also, Will Smith and Matthew McConaughey are circling this role as well. I can see McConaughey as Cap, but Will Smith? A totally weird idea.

Thor. Well, this big boy is going to wait three years for his movie to be released. May 2012, more precisely. And a surprise director, Kenneth Brannagh. And Natalie Portman in it, as Jane Foster. They say Jessica Biel will have a role as well (get Natalie out, give us Jessica!), to attract male audiences. She will play Lady Sif. We have Thor! Not interested? We have Jessica’s chest and legs! Give me two tickets, mister! This movie is a bugger, as Norse gods and mythology is harder to sell and explain than mutants, green giants and super armors. Matthew Vaughn will direct, Chris Hemsworth will play Thor (he plays Kirk’s father in the new Star Trek) and Tom Hiddleston will play Loki. IMDB plot version : Partially disabled medical student Dr. Donald Blake discovers his heretofore unknown alter ego, the Norse warrior, Thor. Make it Norse God. Also, he finds the hammer, dudes. Not too much is known about this movie, so that’s it.
Other movies that are coming from Marvel are:
Ant-Man, Blade Reboot, Fantastic Four Reboot, Deadpool, Iron Man 2, Gambit, Magneto, Runaways, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man 4,5,6, X-Men: First Class and X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2.
A long list of money suckers. What is a Gambit movie doing there? Gambit is great with the X-men. Alone, he’s just a weird guy with cards and French accent. Blade Reboot? After 3 fairly good movies, why another one? Let it rest in peace (or piece). Deadpool? No comment. Fantastic Four reboot is a good one, as the first two movies were awful. Iron Man 2… no comment. Magneto? WTF? Silver Surfer? Can we have Galactus again please? Yes, will wait. Please do not let him burp after he eats a planet. Lets not forget abut the X-Men flicks. I hated the Wolverine movie. It could have been something very good, but nope.

That is a very symbolic choice having Scarlett (Black Widow) as the only female character listed in the story lineup. The Avengers have other superheroes who are female.
Sorry for the missing photos.
The only female character and the only one without superpowers. But who cares she doesn’t shoot rays through her fingers? She’s a fox. Good thing they haven’t decided to include Spider Woman.
As a comic fan it is my opinion that Matthew McConaughey would be more suitable to play the character due to his being a closer visual representation of what Steve Rodgers would look like. The current actor is too recognizable for his role in the Fantastic Four movie and it would be hard for most comic fans to get that out of their head. I also believe that McConaughey would bring more depth and believability as an actor.
Hugo Weaving is an outstanding actor and is a good choice to bring the Red Skull to life. The actor who plays Captain America/Steve Rodgers should be equally talented. Chris Evans is not on that level as an actor and has not displayed a level of acting to compete or compare with Weaving. Weaving has shown the ability to be remembered and draw people in with his portrayal of characters. Evans on the other hand is not remembered for any character he has played and he did not do a convincing job playing the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four. Someone who can REALLY act and who is closer to the comic description of Steve Rodgers would be better suited to play the role. Captain America is one of the greatest comic characters created. A great actor should play him on screen.
Matthew McConaughey, yeay! That is a great choice, but he needs to build up some muscles. He has some, but not enough. And Hugo Weaving(an Australian) is perfect for the villain. And that English accent! Everyone knows that brits or people with English accent make great villains.
