Gundam statue completed
█ The 1:1 scale statue of the RX78 Gundam is finally completed. It measures 18 meters, weights some 35 tones, it is situated on Tokyo’s Odaiba island and the construction started in may. This statue is a part the Mobile Suit Gundam 30th Anniversary Project and it celebrates 30 years of Gundam existence. More precisely 30 years since the original Gundam anime series appeared (1979). It was created by Sunrise studios, written and directed by Yoshiuki Tomino and lasted 43 episodes. Kunio Okawara is the man responsible for the design of the Gundam.
I saw pictures of this statue sometime ago, but i never imagined it will be so awesome and HUGE at the completion. Looks darn real too. Of course, its not made from lunar titanium alloy. But one more reason to visit Japan!
