Hellsing episode 3
The Hellsing organization finds in the body of a deceased person a strange chip which they believe someone is using to create vampires. Cheap imitations of vampires, I might say. But the dead person they recovered becomes a vampire even after the chip is extracted from his body. The vampire slaughters everyone around and escapes from the morgue.
Victoria still refuses to drink artificial blood, with the stubbornness of a troubled teen girl. But if I think about it, is more likely that she is desperately hanging on her lost humanity. Drinking artificial blood would mean the loosing of her human identity, and she is furiously hanging to those. She feels that she is becoming something more than a human and she hates it. But she is getting weaker, as her body needs replenishment. Needs blood. Now, I don’t know how many of you saw someone who is trying to eat blood with a spoon. Like soup. At least in an anime. Well, Victoria tries it. Then she rejects the idea and flushes the blood in the toilet.
A member of the mysterious Iscariot Organization (which in this anime is somehow related to the Vatican, as Integra Hellsing suggests) arrives in the city. His reasons – mysterious. His appearance – a priest. He looks like a fanatic murderer, which he is. But is no doubt that his arrival relates to the actual vampire chip affair.
In this time, the escaped vampire took out a whole police squad, who soon became ghouls. With a ‘’’may god and her majesty the queen bless you’’ the Hellsing organization goes to action. Alucard and Victoria are sent along with the team.
The vampire is armed and on a continuous slaughter, searching for his companion, Mick. He doesn’t know that his friend is dead and already incinerated by the organization. What follows is a clash of powers and wills. Victoria does a good job by killing all the ghouls and Alucard takes down the vampire but the Iscariot appears. Victoria gets stabbed in the neck but Alucard manages to shoot him in the head, only to be stabbed himself by a bunch of knifes when the Iscariot gets up, apparently unhurt. He is a Regenerator, as Alucard calls him. A great fight would follow, but Integra ruins it by showing up with an written order from the Vatican, so the guy leaves. Maybe the worst ending that they could find, but again this will ensure that this guy will appear again. He is so close matched with Alucard in powers.
A pretty weak episode, with nothing too exciting except a weird fight. I find this anime one of the most impersonal ones that I have seen until now. Is like the creators are afraid to develop the characters further and although the theme and the backbone of the story have enough elements to be transformed in a great horror anime, it stays at the stage of OK until now. The cases in which the Hellsing organization is involved are damn boring, I wish they could find some more worthy adversaries. More myth, more horror and more details about how Alucard was created is needed.
