King of Thorn (or Ibara no Ō) is an anime film adapted from the manga with the same name by Yuji Iwahara. The anime is directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama and a trailer of it was shown at the 62nd International Film Festival from Locarno. The story tells us about a group of people who were selected to go in cryogenic suspension (or cryo sleep if you want) until a cure can be found for the deadly virus called Medusa. After some time, they awake, only to find themselves in some desolated ruins crawling with horrible monsters. The film is scheduled to appear in 2010.The english site can be found at http://www.kingofthorn.net

Holy shit, that looks fucking cool as hell! I’ve been meaning to pick up this manga because of it’s great artwork, but never got around to it – now I certainly will! Although I hope something with as many volumes as it has translates well to film.

I dunno. It looks like it has a good story to it, but I’ve never really liked horror/suspense. I might have to watch the first episode before I can decide on this one.
