█ The results of this year’s Will Eisner Comic Industry Award, who takes place during the San Diego Comic-Con 2009, will be announced on Friday, July 24. But lets jump at the category that interests us, and that is the nominees for the manga titles. There are less nominations for manga titles in this year, about 8 of them, while the last year we had 13 nominations.
For the Best U.S. Edition of International Material – Japan this year’s nominees are:
Cat Eyed Boy, by Kazuo Umezu (Viz Media)
Dororo, by Osamu Tezuka (Vertical)
Naoki Urasawa’s Monster, by Naoki Urasawa (Viz Media)
The Quest for the Missing Girl, by Jiro Taniguchi (Fanfare/Ponent Mon)
Solanin, by Inio Asano (Viz Media)
The total nominations for manga titles at different categories count up to 8, the only double nomination of a manga title being Naoki Urasawa’s Monster, who was nominated both at Best Continuing Series and Best U.S. Edition of International Material – Japan. Also, Cowa! by Akira Toriyama (Viz Media) was nominated at Best Publication for Kids. More details and nominations categories HERE.
