Nominations for Viz Media at Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards 2009

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards of this year nominated Viz Media at several categories. The announcement was made on April 7, 2009. Viz Media is one of the largest publishers of manga, anime and related content from the planet, and leader in publishing Japanese manga and animeĀ  in English. The company also has two of the most famous anime/manga magazines in the world, Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat. Viz Media is owned by three of the largest creators and distributors of manga in Japan: Shueisha, Shogakukan and Shogakukan.

Here are the nominations for Viz Media at the 2009 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards:

Best U.S. Edition of International Material – Cat Eyed Boy, by Kazuo Umezu

Best Publication for Kids – Cowa, by Akira Toriyama

Best U.S. Edition of International Material and Best Continuing Series - Naoki Urasawa’s Monster, by Naoki Urasawa

Best U.S. Edition of International Material - Solanin, by Inio Asano

Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards is a prestigious prize given for great achievements in the industry of comics. In a few words that cannot describe a great man, Will Eisner was a great pioneer in the field of American comics, a writer and an artist. You may know him by his “The Spirit” comic books. The Award is held within the Comic-Con international festival, every summer.
