█ Five animated movies are the contenders for this year’s Best Animated Film Oscar, and that is a big number they say. The candidates are: Ponyo, Coraline, UP and other two that are unknown until now. This is a third consecutive Oscar Nomination for a Ghibli movie. The English version of Ponyo features the voice of Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett and Tina Fey and made its debut in over 900 theaters all over the USA. Another rumor says that Evangelion 1.0 is a candidate for the Oscar as well. Well now, I wish an anime will win, but is more likely that the votes will go to a Pixar movie as usual, you know, one of those that it ends in a happy end, is light and it doesn’t ask to much brain to understand it.

How is Ponyo any different?
What is Ponyo about!?
@Snark, the comment was about the academy preferring Pixar movies (read domestic), in the detriment of much better animation ;) And Ponyo is light, but Evangelion is not. My fav is clearly Evangelion, if it will make it to the nominees list.
@Cid, is about a sea creature (golden fish i guess) that wants to become human. Is pretty much different in comparison with other Ghibli movies.
I hope Ponyo wins, simply because I thought it was a stunning and brilliant movie. 5^^!
You know what movie is awesome? “Curdled.” It’s not anime, but it’s an awesome movie.
Glo the Legend! U mean Curdled with William Baldwin? :D Jaws is awesome too! It has actors :D
yes, that is the curdled i am referring to. It rules.
