Robin Hood trailer

5 February 2010 by Andrei No Comment

We all remember the good old Robin Hood of the 90’s with Kevin Costner, right? It was great for sure. And romantic, and fun. But I think it is the time we get another one, a more mature, dark and serious Robin Hood, in Ridley Scott style. If you don’t know who Ridley Scott is, then you are not from this earth and you are sure an… Alien (1979)!. Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, A1942, Black Hawk Down. Did I mentioned Alien? There you go.

The movie will take the well known story and Robin Hood (quoting IMDB)…

The story of how an archer in the service of King Richard the Lionheart became to be known as Robin Hood, the famous archer and outlaw of English Folklore.
Beginning after the Death of King Richard at the Siege of Chalus Chabrol, the film follows Robin on his rise to infamy among the English Barons and the newly crowned King John.
Featuring historically accurate characters such as Sir William Marshall and grounded in reality (in a similar way to Gladiator), this is not Robin Hood as you have seen him before, rather the making of the legend we have come to know him as now.

and like they say, ground it in reality. Blood, guts, misery and all the medieval wonders of Europe.

Russell Crowe will play Robin Hood (excellent choice!), Cate Blanchet will be Maid Marian, William Hurt – William Marshall, Mark Addy – Friar Tuck and Kevin Durand Little John. The evil Sir Godfrey will be played by Mark Strong. Hey, Ridley, just don’t make Robin Hood a saint. I’m sure he had his sins and murders, c’mon, dig deep, show us the real man.

Coming in 2010. It also has an official site, at www.robinhoodthemovie.com. Enjoy the trailer.
