I live in a random East European country. Or Central European, if you relate to Europe in a geographically fashion. Lets see how I would describe the majority of people in here. Very conservative and narrow minded (stupidly afraid of new), sheep (just sit in line, following others), they cant take a joke (would jump to beat you or even worse), artistic illiterates (they prefer going to a restaurant than buying a book), cheap (they prefer to buy expensive gadgets than fixing their houses), afraid to pursue their passions (they …

Rant. Or random thoughts. Anyway you want to call it, I will write it here. Have you ever noticed that the big enemies of anime and games are the people who don’t know a shit about it? Comities of paranoid moms, fucked-up senators, defenders of women rights, radical feminist groups and so on. Is like me suing… the Chinese herbal tea. I don’t drink it, I don’t know anything about it, but I am sure its something evil! Its green! Its DIFFERENT! Its foreign, so it MUST be bad for …

I dream pencils at night. I do. I dream sketching pads and ready-to-be-inked super heroes drawings. I dream that I have an art supply store combined with a comics shop. Last time I drew was 3 years ago. This is the confession of a person who always wanted to draw but other things got in his way.
A small piece of my life was missing and I finally realized which it was. Drawing things. Everytime when I read a manga or a comic book, I want to draw. But I kept …

What can you tell about a person by looking at his/hers wish list from ThingsFromAnotherWorld (tfaw.com)? Here is mine, and it contains more comics than manga. But this is simply because I have no idea what manga to buy, really. My experience with manga is limited. I’ve only read Berserk, Naruto, Vampire Hunter D, Basara, Warcraft and some single volumes from other manga, but only the first 3 titles are on my regular reading list. So if you have some titles suggestion for a 32 yo old that likes Berserk, …

With no doubts, it can be said that anime is culture. It belongs to the popular (pop) culture, more precisely. Popular, because it is not meant for an elite audience, although it can be said that between its fans, some are elite fans.
For the general anime public, anime fulfills their needs and it is judged by a few characteristics. Power to entertain, visual appeal and the capacity to make them wanting for more. For a minority from the same anime audience, anime is judged through some deeper more complex perspectives. …

Today I just got my copy of A Drifting Life by Yoshihiro Tatsumi. At 856 pages, it is a HUGE manga volume. I mean, you can use this book to beat someone with it. Or to slap it with SOME culture if you want. And do not drop it on your feet. It will hurt. And don’t even try to sleep with it under your pillow, if you…
