The anime season of spring 2010 – part one

Although I will not review anime anymore until I find one that is truly amazing and worth my time, I cannot stop looking at the next anime season, and that’s the spring one. Some pretty looking interesting anime in there, and I really really really really hope that at least two or three of them will be great or even more, so that I can start to watching anime again. I’m on dry now. Things that are looking interesting only by looking at the cover and reading the description are Iron Man, Senko no Night Raid and Hakuouki. But I don’t posses that hype that I used to have for the next anime season. That’s gone. And I didn’t bothered anymore with extra details like genre, alternative titles and so on. A waste of time, since you can have better sources of info out there, for this kind of stuff.

Sorry, but I left all the MOE and kiddie anime outside this list. Also, the anime with no trailers were not included, with one exception. The rest of the anime and OVA, plus movies, I will cover in a future post (this week). Excuse my lack of hype once again. Probably one of the last anime season previews that I will make.

Senko no Night Raid

”The story is set in Shanghai in 1931, when the Imperial Japanese Army has been dispatched to mainland China due to the relatively recent First Sino-Japanese War, Russo-Japanese War, and World War I. In this cosmopolitan city of intrigue, there is a special military spy organization called “Sakurai Kikan” that has since been buried in history.” – ANN

Iron Man

marvel_anime_comic-con_poster-728x1024

One of the anime that I have high expectation from. An anime reiteration of the legendary super-hero from Marvel Comics, Iron Man. This is the first project that Madhouse will develop in collaboration with Marvel. The other ones will include Wolverine, Blade and X-Men.

While I liked the Iron Man trailer, Wolverine looks completely crap. Its a screw-up, anime style.

House of Five Leaves

The story of a naive samurai, who gets dismissed by all the lords he is working for. Then he becomes the bodyguard for Yaichi, the leader of a gang called ‘’Five Leaves’’, a mysterious group of outlaws. ‘But at a second glance, this group is not what it seems to be. Don’t tell me they are fighting Nazis.

SD Gundam Sangokuden

Well, this one is an anime based on the Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, just that it is with… Gundams. Something looks terrible wrong in here. Don’t we have enough anime adaptations of that novel? Wait, now I know who built their wall! Hah! Japanese engineering! Mao Gundam!

The story of a football team (that’s original football, read European football) is struggling at the bottom of the Japanese league, after losing five matches in a row. The team starts to loose players and coaches and the future looks very bleak for the East Tokyo United team, but their trainer is ready to play his last card in a big game against the biggest club in the league. Wow, a football anime. I watched captain Tsubasa with reverence in my early anime years, so I’m ready for a new one!

No trailer found.

Yojo-han Shinwa Taikei

Err… not sure what to say here. A bunch of ‘’nameless’’ and ‘’something’’ in the official description. Ill try to give it some spice. A mystery anime which evolves around a senior in college remembering his early years spent in school and seeking to clear up the troubles of his past, which involves a mysterious organization. Vague eh? I thought so.

Ookiku Furikabatte Season 2

Ookiku

The second season of this baseball anime. Rin Mihashio was an ace pitcher (I have no idea what that means) back in his middle school baseball team, but now that he is in high school he has doubts about his chances to join the baseball team. However, he has friends that can help him to improve his skills. OK!
