Titan Rain from Production I.G

25 November 2009 by Andrei 4 Comments

titan rain█ Production I.G has announced its new anime project, named Titan Rain. In the good tradition of the studio, the film will he heavy on CG effects. Tow Ubukata (Le Chevalier d’Eon) and Edmund Shern (CEO of Storm Lion) are going to write it, Atsushi Takeuchi is going to direct it and Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) will do the character design. The music will be handled by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Caprica, Eureka). The Japanese studio will collaborate on this project with the Singaporean production company Storm Lion Pictures. Titan Rain was first announced at Animation Asia Conference 2009 from Singapore. The preproduction for this movie will start on 2010 and the release will be sometime during 2012.

Little is known the story except some vague indication from Atsushi Takeuchi. “in order to survive in today’s complexed society, the human race needs to be strong. Facing the harsh reality of life is one of the main themes of this project and I’m truly excited to be able to present this in the form of an anime to the world.” Yeah, that’s it. I’m glad to return to the normal schedule after 3 weeks of absence.

Takashi Okazaki always means something good, and while I don;t like CG much, I am now officially anticipating this movie.

Hope Titan Rain is not another Apple Seed style CG film, I really didn’t enjoy the cell shading that much…

I think it is. I even think their will take it even further. No match for the traditional animation. Long live Ghibli :)
